The creation of the European Expertise and Expert Institute (EEEI) has been announced on Tuesday 24th October 2006, during the reception hosted by the Company of Experts at the Court of Appeal of Versailles in honor of the Magistrates of the Court of Appeal of Versailles and its dependent Courts.

THE ROLE AND MISSION OF THE EEEI

Several issues have recently highlighted the current limits and weaknesses of expertise, as much in the judicial – civil and criminal – field, as within the framework of the precautionary principle.

The EEEI thus stands as a forum for debate on the future of expertise, with the aim of contributing to :

  • redefining the expert’s role and place in our society
  • harmonising professional practices and rules
  • participating in the overall harmonisation of European regulations of expertise
  • bringing together the key stakeholders – judicial experts, magistrates, lawyers, academics – as well as user federations
