The General Assembly, June 7th The Hague, The Netherlands

The Hague, city of Peace and Justice, is the perfect backdrop for our next GA. The location for the General Assembly is in the heart of the City: the Council of State, the oldest institution of the Netherlands, will be our host. The president of the High Administrative Court – a part of the Council of State – Mr Bart Jan van Ettekoven is very pleased to invite you at the beautiful and old building of the Council and will address the GA. He has a keen interest in judicial expertise and is an advocate for high quality and independent experts. He has written 4 articles about the topic.

The programme is a work in progress but will be built around several themes concerning the two pillars of being an expert: being excellent in giving clear, concise, unbiased expert opinions which are applicable for a judge and being excellent in your field of expertise. Bias and how we all are affected by it because we are human is one of the topics we are working on. Because climate change and environmental threats are of interest to us all, we are working on an environmental law theme as a field of expertise to zoom into.

There will be leisure as well: a tour of the Peace Palace is being negotiated. And the hotels we will pre book for you will be within 5 minutes walking distance from the venue and also very close to all the other attractions The Hague has to offer. The beach is within reach as well…!
