An introduction to the three jurisdictions headquartered in Luxembourg :

  • European Court of Justice
  • General Court
  • Civil Service Tribunal

The Court plays the role of a constitutional court. It clarifies European Community law and ensures its equal application across Member States.

  • It employs 2000 people, half of who hold language-related positions.
  • In 2007, the European Court of Justice ruled on 570 cases, the General Court on 397, and the Civil Service Tribunal ruled on 150 cases.
  • In total, 13000 judgements have been made since 1952.
