In keeping with its mission to promote harmonised and ethical forensic expertise at European level, the EEEI is actively pursuing its participation by proposing a three-year cooperation programme called AI-ADJUST. This programme was submitted on 28 January 2025. As a direct extension of AI-ADJUST, the JURAI project submitted on 5 February 2025 is the first concrete implementation supported by the European Commission as part of the CERV(Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values) programme. These projects enable the EEEI to foster ongoing reflection on contemporary justice issues, while making a practical contribution to the development of tools, training and recommendations for legal practitioners. This dynamic is part of a strong desire to see judicial practices evolve towards greater fairness, transparency and transnational cooperation.
AI-ADJUST: a 3-year strategic vision
The AI-ADJUST(Artificial Intelligence for Anti-Discrimination and Justice Transformation) project, selected as part of the CERV-2025-OG-FPA call, aims to transform the response of European legal systems to discrimination. This 36-month framework partnership is based on the development of JURAI, a multilingual intelligent legal assistant designed to support legal practitioners in dealing with discrimination cases.
AI-ADJUST is also planning advanced training modules, collaborative events and increased cross-border cooperation between justice professionals.
JURAI: a first concrete implementation
The JURAI(Judicial AI Assistant for Combating Discrimination) project, funded under the CERV-2025-OG-SGA call, is the first operational stage of the AI-ADJUST programme. It aims to :
- roll out the AI assistant in 5 languages,
- create a European legal database on the fight against discrimination,
- train 100 legal practitioners in its use,
- organise 4 conferences and 4 regional workshops,
- integrate issues of intersectional discrimination into content and practice.
A strategic partnership with the Agenfor Foundation
To implement these projects, the EEEI relies on a strategic partnership with the Agenfor International Foundation. Agenfor provides extensive technical and methodological support, particularly in the design of AI architecture, data management and the integration of non-discrimination issues into digital tools.
This partnership strengthens the interdisciplinary and European dimension of the project, combining legal expertise, technological innovation and social commitment.
A European drive for equality
These two projects illustrate the EEEI’s ability to mobilise technological innovation and European cooperation to advance equality, justice and fundamental rights. They are fully in line with the European Union’s priorities in terms of combating discrimination, digital transformation and strengthening the rule of law.
We expect a response in July and August 2025.
