This edition incorporates the latest legislative developments in the Netherlands, notably the Act on the Simplification and Modernisation of the Law of Evidence (Wet vereenvoudiging en modernisering bewijsrecht), and provides an up-to-date framework regarding the role of experts in legal proceedings.

Chapter 20, entitled ‘Deskundigen in Europa’, is particularly relevant to the European dimension of the EEEI Award. Included in this third edition, it examines the cross-border perspective of forensic expertise within the European Union and directly supports the objectives of the EEEI.
