WP3 reports on 4 November 2022 in Brussels

A face-to-face meeting of the Working Group was held in Brussels on 3 November at the ABEX premises and simultaneously in remote mode via Teams.

Extract from the minutes

The task of Working Group 3, co-animated by Jan Van Wannenmacher, Austrian judge, and Bertrand Ludes, , French forensic scientist, is to achieve the convergence of existing nomenclatures with a view to harmonizing the fields of expertise.

The discussions covered the different aspects of the draft nomenclature and focused more specifically on the organization of the nomenclature of the different areas identified in the inventory report produced in August 2022 by the working group.

The question of the inclusion in the nomenclature of translators and interpreters, who are considered as judicial experts in the courts of some countries, remains open.

Among the many reports discussed is the question of cross-cutting areas (forensics, evaluation, accidentology, artificial intelligence, etc.): should they or should they not be subject to specific categories?

The group also faces a challenge related to areas that span several categories. For example, insurance can be attached to the mathematics category or to the financial activities area.

A new meeting of the working group is planned for March 2023. This meeting allows us to finalize the deliverable, which is due at the end of March. Thereafter, WP will embark on category definition work to be presented at the consensus conference.
